Dear Polite Traveler,

I must admit; my hubby and I are two lucky people.  We stumble across a docent who is an expert of amphibians and reptiles at the Honolulu Zoo.  And, then the very next day, we stumble across a retired Professor at the Waikīkī Aquarium.  How lucky is that?!    Having someone at our side explaining habitats and the ocean life we were witnessing enabled us to enjoy our visit more.  We came to see, and we found knowledge.

Note: Follow CDC and county guidelines when visiting.  Always wear your face mask when in public.

The Room Over The Power Plant Revised 4/2021 The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas offers guests beautiful rooms, which include kitchens or kitchenettes, outdoor grills, and a number of pools.  Most often, it includes an excellent restaurant, poolside bar, and small store.  A large grocery store is within walking distance as well.  Thus, the theory is that guests will not have to leave the property once they cross the big pond to reach it. Great theory, but that’s not necessarily true when the only on-site restaurant is closed.  Add to that the incredibly loud room...well, let’s just say I needed a break from the property at times.   Note : Follow Hawaii and CDC guidelines when visiting.  Always wear your face mask when in public. May we just see the room we should have had? After an exceptionally long journey that included a broken plane and a rushed connection—not to mention airport security—we were surprised to find that our hotel had our room ready an hour early.

Sonoma, California: Visiting Kendall-Jackson

One Winery Worth a Visit Updated 4/2021 Since I, along with my husband, own a small home-based business , we tend to work most days with very few breaks.   It can be exhausting.  As one of our most busy seasons, we are beginning to feel stressed.  So, what’s a Californian to do??  Go cheese and wine tasting!  No Matter Where You Are, a Winery is Nearby In our part of the Golden State, Davis is surrounded by vineyards.  We are 40 minutes from Napa and an hour from Sonoma.  Here, some of the finest wines in the world are made.  Typically, we would focus only on tasting these lovely wines.  However, with our limited time (only two days) we decided to alter our focus onto enjoying the lush countryside, taste grand cheeses and perhaps sneak in a wine tasting.   (Please  read  my review of these creameries and their cheeses) We Visit Another World Staying at an accommodating DoubleTree ( review ) in Rohnert Park, we were perfectly positioned to explore the fertile farmlands that
